35th ANNUAL WINTER FESTIVAL
“A WINTER’S KNIGHT”
FEBRUARY 7 & 8, 2009
Hear Ye, Hear Ye! Shake off that musty castle-fever. By royal
decree, the fine Lords & Ladies of Cedarburg have commanded
that forthwith, henceforth and sooner rather than later, all those
who are of stout heart and well-insulated parka’s shall
attend the 35th Annual Winter Festival, A Winter’s Knight”
in the enchanted land of Cedarburg of Wisconsin in the wintry
month of February, day 7 & 8 in the year 2009 AD. Huzzah!
Drop your shield & trade your sword for a 9 iron on Saturday
morning, as the lion-hearted Cedarburg Lion’s tee-off with
yellow tennis balls during the Ice-Burg Open Golf Tournament
in Cedar Creek Park, Then scale the “Dragon-Wagon”
hay wagon to view Merlin’s Magical Ice
Carving Contest entries along Washington Avenue. These
icy jewels sparkle like the Queen’s finest.
Bundled
up in their finest “coat of arms” Lords and Ladies,
Knaves and Dames will promenade during the most fantastical Winter
Festival Grand Parade at 1:00 p.m. Saturday. The Parade
route, from Washington Avenue to the frozen mirror of Cedar Creek,
features hearty bed racing teams, fire trucks, knights, dragons,
jesters and comely damsels.
At
1:30 p.m. Saturday, mirth and hilarity reign as the Bed
Racing Tournament, featuring Medieval-themed Costumed
Racing Teams jostle for position, followed soon thereafter by
the heroic, strong and brave Barrel Racers at 2:00 p.m.
Saturday at the Royal Community Center, contestants await their
fate as judges, seated at the Round Table, deliberate the winning-est
bowl during the Chili-Contest. Individual and
Restaurant participants are invited to compete.
Joust
looking for a good time? Malty, hoppy brews and grub for grown-ups
(and a bit o’ gamblin’) will rule Saturday evening
beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the Cool Brew Beer Tasting Party,
featuring food sampling from area restaurants, designer beers
and memorable treasures.
Hark now! On Sunday morning gather ye serfs and nobles for the
“Quest for Pancakes” Breakfast at
the Royal Community Center from 8:00-11:00 a.m. At Noon, the wee
little ones (under 7) hunt for treats during the Hidden
Grail Egg Hunt. Then it’s time for the top dogs
to compete in the Alaskan Malamute Dog Weight Pull Competition,
Sunday from 11-5. Fun Family Activities will be featured indoors
all afternoon. Daily Family Skating: Mill Pond & Cedar Creek
Park.
At Cedar Creek Settlement, hear live music with
ditties and dirges performed daily while shop-owners provide free
Goodie Bag treats. Cedar Creek Winery offers wine sampling
and many of Historic Cedarburg’s charming shops offer splendid
shopping, special crafts, live music and activities. Come one;
come all to Cedarburg’s 2009 Winter Festival! And to all,
