36th ANNUAL WINTER FESTIVAL
“ROMANCING THE SNOW”
Love is in the “Frigid-aire” so grab your sweetie
to celebrate Valentine’s Weekend during the 36th
Annual Winter Festival; “Romancing the Snow” in
Historic Cedarburg, Wisconsin, February 13 & 14.
So, don’t be stupid, cupid…wend your way to romantic
Cedarburg and be our funny valentine.
No hearts and flowers for the Cedarburg Lion’s as they tee-off
in the snow with yellow tennis balls during the Ice-Burg
Open Golf Tournament in Cedar Creek Park, Saturday at 9:00 a.m.,
but, you can take a sentimental journey on the tractor-drawn
hay wagon to view the Ice of Hearts Ice Carving
Contest entries along Washington Avenue, sponsored by
Harris Bank.
Saturday at the Community Center contestants will try to sway
the celebrity judges by blowing kisses during M &
I Bank’s Eat Your Heart Out Chili-Contest. Both
Individual and restaurant participants will compete. Judging will
begin at 11:00 am for Individual entries. The
general public will sample and vote on the best restaurant entries
from 11:00-4:00. Food and beverages will be served
throughout the day at this venue.
You’ll say “baby it’s cold outside” at
the start of the Winter Festival Parade at 1:00 p.m. Saturday.
The parade winds from Washington Avenue to frozen Cedar Creek
for the start of the Fools Rush In Costumed Bed Racing
Competition at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, sponsored by Port Washington
State Bank. This hilarious cutthroat competition will
be followed by the Big Crush Barrel Races on Ice contest
at 2:00 p.m.
Winter Festival is just the place for grown-up fun at Cool
Brews & Blues, a chance to sample assorted
specialty beers and appetizers from area restaurants from 6:00-7:15
p.m. Saturday, followed by live blues at 7:30 at the Cedarburg
Cultural Center. Tickets can be purchased in advance
or at the door.
The All’s Fair in Love and War Co-ed Sno-Ball Tournament
begins Saturday at 9:00 a.m. Trophies will be awarded
for 1st, 2nd & 3rd place. Entry is $50 per team. Call 262-375-7611
for info. On Sunday morning its sweets for the sweet as families
gather for the Pancake Breakfast at the Community Center
from 8:00-11:00 a.m.
At
10:30, the little darlings (under 7) venture outdoors to hunt
for treats during the Candy is Dandy Egg Hunt. Then it’s
time for the top dogs to compete in the Puppy Love Alaskan
Malamute Dog Weight Pull Competition, Sunday from 11-5.
As always there is Family Skating daily on the Mill Pond
& at Cedar Creek Park.
Back for the second year is the Cedarburg Artist’s
Guild’s Queen of ‘Arts Art Show & Sale.
More than 40 artists will set up mini-galleries in retail establishments
throughout downtown Cedarburg’s old stone buildings all
weekend. Saturday and Sunday there will be musical entertainment
at The Shops of Cedar Creek Settlement while Cedar
Creek Winery offers wine sampling and The Anvil
Pub & Grille will have an outdoor bonfire and “snow
bar” on their patio.
Morton’s WisconsInn will celebrate with live bluegrass.
Many of Historic Cedarburg’s charming independent shops
will be welcoming visitors with splendid shopping opportunities,
special crafts, live music and family activities.
